Our Team

This is our 2019-2020 executive board! Read below for more information about them.
Picture

Aya Hamza
President

Aya Hamza is a junior who has served as the youngest campaign fellow in FL-27 congressional race, and a fellow at Abdul for Michigan. Aside from that, she has lobbied Congresswoman Shalala's office to create a Youth Advisory Council, and as Political Director for the Florida High School Democrats. From hosting campaigns events of her own to canvassing all throughout Miami’s districts, she has garnered the skillset necessary to create a blue tsunami with the MDTeenDems going into 2020!

Benjamin Pla

Secretary

Benjamin Pla is a sophomore with passions in domestic and international affairs. Ever since the heated 2016 election, he coordinates events for his school's politics club, liaises with state legislators to change in his community, and is an intern at various government offices. Through his love for politics, Ben is excited to organize as part of the MDTeenDems leadership team this year!

Kevin Cruz
Treasurer
Kevin Cruz is a senior in Miami Art Studio's Entertainment Law magnet who decided to further his knowledge in politics early on in his education. Making assignments out of State of the Union addresses and trying to implement current affairs into his life in anyway he can. Kevin yearns to spark that same infatuation in politics that his law teachers sparked in him by directly spreading awareness and solving issues directly affecting Miami's youth by serving as MDTeenDems' treasurer for the 2019-20 year!

Daniella Berrospi
Operations Committee-person
Daniella Berrospi is a senior currently serving as the Operations Committee Person for the MDTeenDems Executive Board. She has been involved in her community as the former Parliamentarian for the Miami-Dade Youth Commission, a current committee member of the Congresswoman Donna Shalala Advisory Council, and dedicated her Sundays to volunteering at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Moreover, Daniella is the captain of her school's Mock Trial team, President of her class and the English Honor Society, as well as a member of the Political Action and Civic Engagement Club. She believes her purpose in life is to serve others as she actively champions civic engagement in aim of creating a more unified community.

Fabiana Gonzalez

Membership Committee-person
Fabiana Gonzalez is a junior currently attending the School of Advanced Studies. She first delved into the political world in 7th grade, then going on to conducting individual research on the United States' policy responses to large-scale issues and the stories of the Congress members who've brought about change throughout the years. As the Membership Committe-person for the MDTeenDems, Fabiana now wants to spread political awareness so that the students of today become the educated voters of tomorrow!

Alexander Sutton
Event Coordinator
Alex is a senior at Coral Gables Senior High School and is interested in political science, journalism, socializing, and languages (which is probably why he talks too much, at least according to him). He likes to have fun, and cannot wait to engage in political advocacy through MDTeenDems. He likes to meet politicians and interview them for his Instagram page and the school newsmagazine. He hopes to one day travel the world, start a company, and maybe even run for office one day — but for the moment he’s more concerned about getting his I.B. diploma.
